The National Independent Insurance Agents Association was founded in 1896 by Robert S. Brannen and Charles F. Wilson in Denver Colorado. Since that time, the Big I has grown to over 280,000 members and employees throughout the United States. In 1991 the Illinois Independent Agents Association merged with the Professional Insurance Agents to form the Professional Independent Insurance Agents Association.
     The independent agent represents the policy owner. We are not employees of an particular Insurance Company, we are Business- owners who can represent many different insurance companies.
     We place insurance coverage with a company best suited to our client’s needs. We are "Not just one company agents."
      The Joliet - Will County Independent Insurance Agents' Association was founded in the early 1940's to allow its member agencies an opportunity to network, and explore insurance problems, locally, statewide and nationally.
